Data on the population currently incarcerated under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Information was acquired via the California Public Records Act (CPRA).
Before releasing these records, CDCR excluded individuals meeting certain privacy-related criteria, such as those tied to health and age. To enhance privacy and security, we replaced original CDCR identification numbers with pseudonyms.
The data consists of three unique tables: demographics, current commitments and prior commitments connected by CDCR identification numbers.
This open data initiative is an independent effort by Redo.io. It is not supported by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the Three Strikes Project at Stanford Law, the Office of the State Public Defender, or any other organization we partner or collaborate with.
